NASP is the National Association of School Psychologists. It is a professional association that represents more than 25,000 school psychologists, graduate students, and related professionals throughout the United States and 25 other countries. The world's largest organization of school psychologists, NASP works to advance effective practices to improve students' learning, behavior, and mental health. Their vision is that all children and youth thrive in school, at home, and throughout life.

The NASP Practice Model

One of the valuable things that NASP provides is the NASP Practice Model. This model outlines the 10 Domains of Practice and the 6 Organizational Principals for school psychologists. Essentially, it outlines what a comprehensive and integrated school psychologist role would look like.

Excellence in School Psychological Services (ESPS) Recognition Program

This program recognizes school districts that are proactively working to implement comprehensive school psychological services as defined in the NASP Practice Model. Right now there are no districts in Minnesota recognized by NASP, but it may be something to talk about with your district!

NASP Exposure Project

The NASP African American subcommittee of the Multicultural Affairs Committee invites you to participate in the Exposure Project (#NASPEP) to expose high school students and undergraduates, especially those of diverse backgrounds, to school psychology as a career. As someone involved in school psychology, you can consider using this resource to present to high school students or undergraduates in your area in order to help reduce shortages in school psychology and attract culturally and linguistically diverse students to school psychology graduate programs.
