School Psychology Awareness Week (SPAW) (NASP link) runs from November 11 to 15, 2019 and has the theme of “Find Your Focus” this year. As a school psychologist, you can “find your focus” by identifying and communicating your area of interest to others; creating or expanding your network at your school, district or across the state; enhancing your own skills, or advocating for improvements in your school.
What is your focus this year?
SPAW is about connecting our school psychology community and promoting this profession as a way to help others to thrive, especially students.
The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) publishes an excellent resource for communicating about our field to a wide range of audiences. This resource is Who Are School Psychologists? and is attached or can be accessed at https://www.nasponline.org/about-school-psychology/who-are-school-psychologists. This resource can be a great tool to be used when communicating with your state department of education, legislators, school district superintendents, school board members, mayors and city council members, PTAs, and your local newspaper.
